When did you join ASM?
I joined in 2019.

Tell us about your experience, lived and/or working?
I have worked in various roles supporting people with a learning disability and/or autism for many years. In the 1990’s I I was involved in setting up advocacy services, and then specialised in designing Easy Read information, to make information more accessible and set up my own business to do this. In 2018 I did a Post Graduate Certificate in Autism and Aspergers. As well as working for AS Mentoring, I also work with a team of autistic adults developing and delivering autism training to a wide range of support services, community groups and businesses. In 2022 we set up a Community Interest Company called Autism by Experience.

What do you value most about your work?
I love the variety, meeting and building relationships with people. I really enjoy seeing people build their confidence and utilise their potential.

What are your areas of interest or expertise?
Supporting groups, co-presenting training and workplace support. I’m passionate about helping employers understand the unique skills and insights neurodivergent people can bring to team. I’m pretty good at graphic design and making information easier to understand

When you’re not working, how do you relax, have fun etc?
I love sci-fi and sport and try to avoid practical work like DIY as I’m just really bad at things like that. I play golf and wandering around the countryside looking for a ball that refuses to go where I want it to takes my mind off anything else that might be going on in the world.
