This was a two-year transnational project funded by the EU’s Erasmus+ programme, where ASM partnered with Synapsis (Poland) and the Latvian Autism Association to develop training programmes and resources for professionals working in other fields who wanted to ensure that their organisations were accessible to adults with autism. Each partner organisation developed three training programmes, as follows:
- A general introduction to supporting adults with autism
- Supporting learning-disabled autistic adults
- Supporting adults with Asperger syndrome, or equivalent diagnosis
Each of these was then trialled via training delivered to groups of relevant staff from other organisations, with the results compared and collated by the project partners in a series of transnational meetings in London, Warsaw and Riga. The project concluded with a very successful conference in Warsaw in summer 2018, which also launched the Project Handbook. This is an open-source resource, available as a project legacy.
ASM’s contribution to the project focused throughout on employment issues. A PDF of our section of the Handbook can be downloaded from:

* Please note that there are considerable differences in the autism terminology that is used in the three participant nations, and that these differences are reflected throughout the full version of the project Handbook in the terminology used by the respective partners .
